Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is a state protected land located in Southern California. At 600,000 acres (2,400 km2) and one fifth of San Diego County within its borders, Anza-Borrego Desert is the largest state park in California and the second largest within the United States. The park includes 500 miles (804 km) of dirt roads and 110 miles (180 km) of hiking trails.
Indian Hill is a former Indian ceremonial site and archeological site dating mankind's occupation back 6,000 years. The area was originally used by the Pinto Basin Indians who preceded the Kumeyaay (Indians) by several thousand years. The petroglyps are a bit more than 500 years old (or about the age of the discovery of the North America in 1492). An abandoned railway camp, used during construction of the San Diego-Arizona Railway in 1913, is nearby. [link] [link] |
